Tutorial Overview

The Family Treatment Court (FTC) Tutorial is intended for anyone interested in gaining basic and introductory knowledge of the FDC model and operation. Newly hired team members, local community stakeholders, and members from partner agencies who are looking to become acquainted with the FDC model will find this tutorial particularly helpful.
Sure! Many communities are embedding FTC practices into their larger system. You may also want to visit the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare for discipline-specific tutorials that provide cross-system knowledge on effective engagement strategies and treatment practices for families involved in the child welfare system and affected by parental substance use and mental health disorders.
The FTC Tutorial is free and offered at no cost. The FTC Tutorial is designed and presented by the National Family Treatment Court Training and Technical Assistance Program through the support of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Program (Award No. 15PJDP-22-GK-03559-DGCT)
Completion of all three modules will take approximately 1.5 hours. Each module includes a short animated video, knowledge check questions, and supplemental resources to enhance your learning experience. You will be able to log off at any time during a course (except when taking a Quiz) and resume where you left off at a later time.
The FTC Tutorial is divided into three modules. We recommend that you begin with Module One and work your way through Module Three. You will receive a Certificate of Completion will be awarded to those who completing all 3 modules and successfully passing the knowledge check quizzes.
Unfortunately, no CEUs are offered at this time. A Certificate of Completion will be provided for those who complete all 3 modules. You may be able to submit the certificate of completion, and module information, to your certifying board for CEUs. The National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare does offer free CEUs for their Online Tutorials. Please visit www.ncsacw.samhsa.gov for more information.

Getting Started

Yes. To access each of the Modules, you must create a user account, which is easy to do. Click on the Registration Link on the front web page and you will be instructed to create a User Name and password. You must also provide an email address, which will be used to send an email to confirm your registration.
After creating a Username and password, you will be able to log-in anytime to access the tutorials by clicking on the Courses tab at the top of screen. We suggest that you take the Modules in sequential order. To start on a new Module, you must click on the "Click here to access the 3 Training modules" on the frontpage or by the “Courses” tab. A window pane of the list of lessons will appear, which you can select the module of your choice to gain access. Each module has a tab with a brief description, an animated informational video, knowledge check questions, and resources related to the content for a deeper dive.
Click on the Course to see that all lessons including the Module Quiz are marked completed with a green check mark. You can also check the "Learning Progress" on the Module page which will provide an update status (% completed).
Yes- you can log-off at anytime during a Course and resume where you left off at a later time. Once you start a Quiz, you must complete it and receive a score. Logging off during a Quiz will result in an incorrect score when you try to resume it. Please check the Curriculum page to confirm what lessons you have completed (green check marks).
You must complete every lesson and take the Module Quiz (5 questions) to successfully complete a Course. Make sure you press "Complete the lesson" (yellow button) before moving on to the next Lesson. Completed lessons will be marked with green box (Completed Lesson) and a green check mark. You will also receive an email confirming your completion of the Module.
Yes. A passing score (a minimum of 4 out of 5 correct) is required to receive a Certificate of Completion. A successful score is marked by a green check mark. A non-passing score is marked by a dark orange icon (exclamation mark). Remember, you can retake a quiz up to five times.

Finishing Up

After successful completion of all three (3) Modules and knowledge check sections press “Finish the Course” button to receive the Certificate of Completion.
You must edit your profile. First, click on your Profile at the very top right corner. Select "Edit my Profile." Enter your first and last name in the appropriate fields. Then update "Display name publicly" by selecting your full name. Lastly, click "Update Profile" at the very bottom. Re-click on "View Certificate" to see the revised Certificate with your full name.
After verifying your name and completion date, you will see the options to either save it as an image (PNG or JPEG) which you can save on your computer or print a hard copy.
To successfully pass the Final Quiz, you must receive an 80% score (or correctly answer at least 20 of the 25 questions). If you did not receive a passing score, you can retake the Final Quiz by clicking the Retake the Quiz (green button). You can retake the Final Quiz up to five times.
Click on the Retake Course, which will reset the Final Quiz giving you another opportunity to take and pass the Final Quiz (up to five times).
